Hello, I’m Ray Newland, and I want to share my story with you. Born on July 19, 1971, in Liverpool, England, I embarked on a football journey that shaped my life in ways I never imagined. My career as a professional goalkeeper started as a trainee with Chester City, where I learned the ropes before moving to Welsh side Newtown, where in my first season I went on to win both the players’ and supporters’ player of the year.
I then went on to play professionally for Everton, Chester City (again), Torquay United, Clydebank, and Wigan Athletic over ten years as a professional goalkeeper.
However, at the age of 28, a training ground injury while playing for Wigan Athletic brought an abrupt end to my career. But this was not the end of my journey in football. In 1998 I turned this setback into an opportunity and started Just4keepers goalkeeper training schools and in 2010, I also launched my own goalkeeping glove brand, J4K (short for Just4keepers).

I am very proud to say that Just4keepers went on to become the leading and largest goalkeeper school in history, and at our peak, my school was helping thousands of young goalkeepers across 37 countries and 6 continents.
I am the only goalkeeper coach in history to take a goalkeeping coaching concept around the globe, and I am again very proud that my company has helped over 500,000 young goalkeepers for over two decades now.
Also, my J4K goalkeeper glove brand has become one of the most trusted glove brands in the world today.
As well as helping people develop their own 6 or 7 figure sports brand, I am still involved with Just4keepers to this day, as my passion is to help the next generation of young goalkeepers achieve their dreams.
My personal life is as fulfilling as my professional one. I married my long-term girlfriend, Paula, whom I first met when we were just six years old. Together, we have two daughters, Ashleigh Rae and Mckenzie Rae.
Our wedding on Christmas Eve in 2014 was a memorable event, with over 600 guests in a church that sat 400 people and 147 best men who were all my current goalkeeper students at the time. We unofficially beat the Guinness Book of World Records for the most best men/women at a wedding, which was yet another proud moment in my life.
Through my experiences, both on and off the pitch, I’ve learned the importance of resilience, dedication, and the power of turning challenges into opportunities.
I now dedicate my life to helping others through my experiences, whether that is helping my students and goalkeeper coaches in my Just4keepers schools, helping people develop their six-figure sports brand here through Inspire Me Sports, and also through my books that you will find on my other website www.raynewland.com
And my wish is to help you achieve your dreams and goals.
